After a devastating fire in 2002, which almost completely destroyed the upper floors, the top floor and roof had to be almost completely demolished and rebuilt. Overnight, Urban Knapp developed a restoration concept for the listed building and drew up plans for the upper floors. These were not rebuilt but redesigned. A complex steel structure provided the support for the new parts, some of which were visibly integrated into the interior concept. All the fixtures and fittings and the building services were replaced due to the fire damage. The reopening took place 4 months later - a curiosity: the building permit was ceremonially handed over at the reopening.
